We, as in humans, truly are idiots. Originally identified as an asteroid that would nearly collide with Earth next week, the Rosetta probe is harmless and just on it’s way back (for the second time) to use Earth’s gravity to slingshot it back into space for another mission. How the hell could we not only lose track of something like this, but then mistake it for an asteroid and drum up concerns that it would hit us?
