ummmm. I just like getting shit, is that so wrong. Don’t really care WHY, who has time for that.
Getting new stuff is always nice, but if it’s under the flag of a stolen holiday used to make us all feel as though we’re heathens if we don’t give shit, on that particular day, to everyone we know, while claiming it’s in the “spirit of christmas” then I say no thanks.
I’d rather be nice to the people I care about when I choose to throughout the year, rather than at the religiously sanctioned holiday. How many people, that you never hear from any other time, do shit for you or get in touch with you on christmas? Are they in a coma the other 364 days of the year, or are they doing this on christmas because they feel obligated rather than because they want to?
Fuck all that.
I couldn’t agree more with what you say. The way I live my life has nothing to do with a holiday (a stolen holiday). It has to do with who I am as a person. Each day, not one day a year, I try to be a good person and do what is right. Of course there are relatives and others that feel obligated to contact or do shit for you around X-mas, but that is their issue. All I can do is smile and nod and hope that they will see that a day should not change them. They need to realize that everyday is equal to their X-mas. Hey, Karma’s a bitch.
